Sacramento, CA — Governor Schwarzenegger and legislative leaders have given themselves at least one more day to try to place a record-setting public works bond measure on the June ballot.
Negotiators have been working on borrowed time since last Friday. That was the secretary of state´s official cutoff date for the Legislature to add proposals to the June 6th ballot. Since then lawmakers and administration officials have repeatedly stretched that deadline, initially saying they had until yesterday, then until today and now until tomorrow.
Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez says the key issue holding up an agreement is a debate over how much money to provide for new reservoirs.
