Sonora, CA — With a Snow Advisory in effect until 6:00pm, Mother Lode residents are getting a whole winter´s worth of snow in one day.
Snow accumulation in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties has surpassed what the National Weather Service predicted, with more than eight inches of snow in downtown Sonora as of 10:00am.
Several power outages, car accidents, and road closures are keeping PG&E, CHP, and Cal Trans officials very busy on this snowy day.
Tom Wills with the CHP is advising motorists to stay home. He says that the plows can not access the roads because there are too many vehicles on them.
Wills also says that with the number of cars sliding and spinning out, there are not enough officers to help them.
The National Weather Service says motorists should continue to monitor the latest weather conditions.
