Sonora, CA — Outdoor events will be tough this weekend with no break in the cold weather.
The National Weather Service says a low-pressure system will keep temperatures unseasonably cold through President´s Day.
Due to the cold air any snowfall in the foothills and higher elevations will stick to the roads.
Six inches of snow is possible above 3,000 feet and lighter amounts are expected down to the 1,000-foot level.
Daytime high temperatures will remain 10 to 15 degrees below normal and over night lows in the higher elevations will drop well into the teens and single digits.
If traveling in the high country officials suggest carrying tire chains and checking the latest road and weather reports before heading out.
