Sacramento, CA — Close to one million Californians caught between two healthcare plans will not be left without coverage thanks to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The governor has signed an emergency order to provide prescription drug coverage to people in transition to the new federal Medicare drug coverage plans.
The five-day emergency program was prompted by hundreds of reports of people having trouble filling their prescriptions.
Schwarzenegger says although drug coverage for people on Medicare and Medi-Cal is a federal responsibility, he has ordered the state to temporarily pay for their drug coverage.
Pharmacies will now have to fill prescriptions for eligible members at no cost to the recipients.
