Sacramento, CA — The California State University System is pulling the plug on alcohol sales at athletic events on 23 of its campuses statewide.
School officials say the sale of alcoholic beverages goes against the policy of providing a safe and healthy learning atmosphere for students and faculty members.
Campuses will also no longer be allowed to renew any contractual agreements that involve alcohol sales.
The new ban follows a policy change enacted four years ago that requires the education of students on issues relating to alcohol use and limits the number of alcohol related advertisements on campus.
The new policy took effect December 23rd.
