Sacramento, CA — State Treasurer Phil Angelides says Governor Schwarzenegger´s $222 billion public works program is full of gimmicks and hype, and relies on billions of dollars in uncertain funding.
Angelides also contends the Republican governor´s plan doesn´t clearly identify the state´s infrastructure needs.
Angelides is running for the Democratic nomination for governor and could end up facing Schwarzenegger in the fall.
The governor announced his proposal during his State of the State speech last week.
He says an ambitious plan is needed to rebuild and repair California´s freeways, transit systems, schools, levees, bridges and government buildings.
