Schwarzenegger Proposes Increase In Funding For Childrens’ Health Care

Sacramento, CA — Governor Schwarzenegger is proposing an increase in funds to cover medical expenses for children.

The governor says his 2006-2007 budget includes an additional $72 million for state and county agencies to enroll children into the state´s MediCal and Healthy Families programs.

Schwarzenegger made the announcement yesterday at a conference held at a Los Angeles Area health center for women and children.

The governor said there are 400,000 children that are eligible for the healthy family program who are not enrolled. Schwarzenegger said he will also propose an increase of $1.2 billion for health and human services programs.

The governor is expected to release details on how much the additional enrollees will cost the state when he unveils his proposed budget today.
