Sacramento, CA — Two powerful winter storm systems are responsible for extensive flooding and damage throughout the Mother Lode over the weekend.
The first system hit the area Saturday with heavy rains and high winds that knocked down power lines and tree limbs which closed roadways.
Water was reported flowing over numerous area bridges. Power crews also worked throughout the weekend to restore electricity to hundreds of customers.
An urban and small stream flood advisory remains in effect until noon today for southwestern Calaveras, western Tuolumne and eastern Stanislaus Counties.
Forecasters say up to an inch of rain fell between 1:00 and 4:00 this morning from east of Modesto to Sonora.
Radar indicates that more rain will fall over the same area throughout the morning.
Officials warn that the possibility of flooding remains along creeks and streams, highways and underpasses.
