San Andreas, CA — The power failure that hit the San Andreas area Friday caused extensive damage to the Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department´s equipment and technology.
Undersheriff Mike Walker told the Board of Supervisors Tuesday surges that occurred as a result of the failure caused a generator to malfunction.
9-11 calls were temporarily transferred to CALFIRE dispatch. And while, emergency services are back up and running, several other systems aren´t. For example, two Live Scan fingerprinting machines are down, the entire fire alarm system for the jail is down, and there are several rooms and doors without power.
The county does have insurance for such a situation with a $100,000 deductible.
The board will have a complete list of the damages as it enters final budget deliberations Wednesday.
