Downum And Mele To Guest On Mother Lode Views

Sonora, CA — This weekend Calaveras County Sheriff Dennis Downum and Tuolumne County Sheriff Jim Mele will guest on Mother Lode Views.

The subject matter; the need for new jails in the two Mother Lode counties.

Downum will comment on just how antiquated his 1950´s era jail is. Downum expresses one staggering statistic; 29 percent of prisoners arrested so far this year should still have been behind bars serving time for their original offense. However they were given early release because only 65 beds are available.

Mele will comment on the need for a centralized department that would include a jail-administration center under one roof.

Both sheriffs will comment on the Assembly Bill 900 which would serve as the state funding source for 75 percent of the total cost of the two jails.

Mother Lode Views will air at 10:30am Saturday and 8:30am Sunday on AM-1450 KVML. The show will also air Sunday on STAR 92.7 at 9am and on Today´s Country KKBN (93.5FM) at 10am.
