Sonora, CA — The Calaveras Ranger District will be conducting a 266 acre prescribed burn one mile west of Arnold along Forest Road 5N49 Wednesday.
Smoke may be visible from Hwy 4 with some down canyon drift smoke visible in the morning and early evening. The burn is scheduled to last several days.
The purpose of the controlled burn is to reduce the amount of flammable vegetation within the Hwy 4 Arnold fuel break area. The burn project objective is to improve protection for life, homes, and property in the adjacent communities of Hathaway Pines, Avery, Arnold, White Pines, Blue Lake Springs, Big Trees Village, Dorrington and Camp Connell.
