Sacramento, CA– Due to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger´s decision to use part of the 2006-07 state budget for the expansion of the California Highway Patrol, 136 new officers were sworn in Friday at the CHP Academy in West Sacramento.
CHP Officials say it was one of the largest graduation ceremonies in nearly four years. Of the 136 CHP graduates, two will be working within the Central Division. Beginning Monday, April 2nd, a new class with as many as 240 prospective cadets will begin the 27-week training.
Additional officers are being hired in hopes to address the growth in population and licensed drivers and to enhance public safety.
