Governor Seeks Federal Disaster Aid

Sacramento, CA — Governor Schwarzenegger is seeking federal disaster aid for California because of the ongoing cold snap that has destroyed nearly a billion dollars worth of the state´s citrus crop.

The declaration authorizes the state´s Office of Emergency Services and agriculture secretary to seek aid from the federal government to offset losses to California growers and other businesses.

Industry officials say shoppers will feel the sting through higher prices for oranges, lemons and other field crops.
