Sonora, Ca — With a pair of massive winter storms headed toward the Sierra Nevada, Pacific Gas and Electric is out making some last minute attempts to minimize the chance of widespread power outages.
“A combination of very strong winds and heavy rain can definitely result in power outages,” says Spokesperson Nicole Tam. “What we are doing is taking proactive steps to trim trees, tree limbs and other vegetation that could potentially contact overhead power lines and ultimately interrupt electric service.”
The first winter storm is expected to arrive Thursday evening and continue into Friday. According to the National Weather Service, a second more powerful storm will likely arrive Friday afternoon and continue into Saturday.
If you have a power outage to report, Tam says you are encouraged to call 1-800-PGE-5002.
