San Andreas, Ca — According to PG&E, a bird was the cause of downed power lines on Hwy 49 near Pool Station Rd. during the six o´clock hour Monday morning.
This may have somehow been connected to a fire at a nearby San Andreas preschool/daycare center.
“A bird made contact with, or what we call cross phased, our lines, causing a wire to come down,” says PG&E´s Nicole Tam. “That situation caused approximately 3,200 customers to go without power.”
A fire started at the nearby Little Miner 49er Infant and Preschool right about the time the outage was reported.
According to Lisa Williams with CAL Fire, the daycare building is not a total loss, but notes that she does not know the exact extent of the damage.
Highway 49 was closed down for approximately 45 minutes Monday morning.
Further information will be released when it is available.
