Sierra Winter Weather Advisory & High Wind Watch
A winter weather advisory goes into effect for the Sierra Nevada mountains from 10am this morning through 10pm tonight.
Snow levels will fluctuate anywhere from 4500 to 6500 feet with up to a foot of snow expected in the high Sierra. Snow showers could linger in the mountains through Saturday morning.
Winds will also begin to gust Saturday morning in the Sierra, beginning with gusts of up to 50 mph.
In the Motherlode, rain may fall at times both today and tonight for small and temporary periods of time.
Winds will also be gusty in the Motherlode beginning on Saturday with sustained winds of fifteen to thirty mph and some gusts possibly reaching up to 35 mph.
A high wind watch has been issued for both the Motherlode’s foothills and the Sierra Nevada from Saturday night into Sunday morning. Sustained winds of 25 to 45 mph should be expected with some gusts possibly reaching 70 mph.
Highway 108 (Sonora Pass) is open. Highway 4 (Ebbetts Pass) is also open. Highway 120 (Tioga Pass) is closed at Crane Flat.
