The Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service for the Motherlode remains in effect until 11pm this evening. A “High Wind Watch” will then go into effect for the Sierra Nevada from 11pm Tuesday through 1pm Wednesday .
Winds of 20 to 30 mph should be expected in the Motherlode with gusts up to 50 mph. Winds will pick up again on Wednesday, but will not be as strong as Tuesday.
Winds of 25 to 35 mph should be expected in the Sierra Nevada with gusts over 55 mph in wind prone canyons and over ridges.
All local mountain passes are open, but you are reminded that the wind chills will be very cold through Wednesday.
