Small Vegetation Fire Hits Cherry Lake Area
Sonora, CA — The National Forest Service, CAL Fire and local agencies have responded to a small vegetation fire at the south end of Cherry Lake near the Kibbie Ridge area.
According to Stanislaus National Forest Spokesperson Pat Kaunert the fire is one-eighth of an acre in size and is located on the opposite side of the lake from the campgrounds. No human life or structures have been threatened.
Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Response has included all CAL Fire aircraft from the Columbia Air Base, two Forest Service engines, one Forest Service hand crew and one Forest Service dozer.
