Cox Says Four Furlough Days Goes Too Far
Sacramento, CA — 1st Republican District State Senator Dave Cox is speaking out against Governor Schwarzenegger’s call to impose a fourth furlough day for select state workers.
In the Governor’s latest budget proposal, he calls for a five percent salary reduction for state workers, on top of the current three furlough days a month. A fourth furlough day would total a 20 percent decline in pay.
Senator Cox states, “During these unprecedented financial times, state worker compensation will be reduced, but a sudden and immediate 20 percent reduction to a family’s monthly income is too much.”
Cox says it is not reasonable to add another furlough day without having a comprehensive solution to the budget problem.
