State Budget Clock Continues To Tick In Sacramento

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — The budget stalemate continues with the Republicans and the Democrats remaining firmly entrenched in their respective philosophical trenches.

Governor Schwarzenegger is demanding a permanent fix and no more band aid approaches to the budget process.

From Senator Dave Cogdill, “He’s tired of taking this in little bites that don’t get it done and just continues to kick the can doen the road. He’s taken a very strong stand to say I’m not going to deal with any short term fixes and that’s what they’re (the Democrats) are grappling with right now. It’s a tactic they have used and used well by just pushing this off by saing, “Let’s do this and we agree we’ll work on these other things down the road in a couple of months” and the Governor has just had it with that. He has said, “No, you’ve had a month to bring me the corrections to balance the budget and you haven’t done it.”

“The Governor is being very forceful right now. I’m sure hoping the pressure that is going to develop with these IOUs going out and the worsening situation with our budget will have a positive effect. It’ just getting worse every day and if we don’t take action the numbers will just continue to grow. This realization just has to finally sink through and these folks (the Democrats) are just going to have to do the right thing.”
