Montezuma Junction Fire Doused Sunday Afternoon

San Andreas, CA — A Sunday afternoon fire near the intersection of Hwy 108 and Hwy 49 caused no structural damage or injuries. 

According to CAL Fire Communications Operator Jim DeVoll the fire was caused by a trailer pulled by a pickup that lost a tire. The resulting sparks ignited the one and one half acre vegetation fire.

Response included a Battalion Chief, all aircraft from Columbia Air Base, five CAL Fire engines: two from Standard and one each from Green Springs, Twain Harte and Sierra Training Center), a Sonora City Fire Department engine, one water tender from Station 76 in Jamestown, one engine from the Sierra Conservation Center and two hand crews.
