Prescribed Burn Scheduled Near Long Barn

Long Barn, CA — Depending on conditions, the Stanislaus National Forest will conduct a 2,000 acre prescribed burn near Long Barn between April 20-30.

The burn location is above the Middle Fork of the Stanislaus River, approximately ½ mile down-stream from the Spring Gap Powerhouse.

Spokesperson Pat Kaunert says the purpose of the burn is to restore historic, fire resistant conditions and to improve resource protection for the area.

The burning will be monitored and conducted in accordance with state and county air quality guidelines and closely coordinated with the local air pollution control district.
