Furlough Fridays Begin At State Offices
Sacramento, CA — More than 200,000 state government workers will take an unpaid furlough today.
Closed today are the Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Consumer Affairs and the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, among others.
California’s budget crisis forced Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to impose the twice-a-month furloughs in an effort to save money.
