Governor Cuts 62 Percent Of Garamendi’s Budget
Sacramento, CA — Calaveras County native John Garamendi has been an outspoken critic of Governor Schwarzenegger throughout the budget process, and this afternoon the Governor used his line item veto authority to cut the Lt. Governor’s budget by nearly two-thirds.
Garamendi says in a statement, “Let me assure the people of California, that even though the Governor has cut my office by 62 percent, I will continue to do the work they elected me to do.”
“The budget solutions are temporary and insufficient, the borrowing continues and the budget problem will reemerge in just a few months,” adds Garamendi.
The Lt. Governor’s current $2.78 million budget has been reduced to $1.04 million.
Schwarzenegger is mandating a 10 percent cut to the budgets of the Attorney General, Board of Equalization, Controller, Secretary of State and Treasurer.
