The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra Nevada, effective through 4am Tuesday.
Rainfall totals in the motherlode could reach 1-3 inches during this time, with the possibility of urban and small stream flooding.
Two to four feet of new snow is projected to fall above 6,500 feet.
Snow levels will fluctuate between 7000 to 8000 feet on Sunday. Snow levels will lower to around 5,500 to 6,500 feet on Monday.
Winds could gust up to 75 mph over the higher passes.
