Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne County Office of Emergency Services is encouraging residents to prepare for winter-like weather.
A National Weather Service issued Wind Advisory will go into effect for the Mother Lode at 4pm this afternoon and continue through 4am Wednesday. The Mother Lode will also be under a Flood Watch this evening through tomorrow morning. In addition, a Winter Storm Warning will begin at 4pm today for the Sierra Nevada, continuing through 4pm Wednesday. Snow levels are expected to begin at around 5,500 ft. and eventually dip down to around 2,500 ft.
“Don’t travel unless you absolutely have to during this period, and if you are in a flood zone, prepare in advance,” says Kathleen Rustrum, Tuolumne County OES Coordinator. “And make sure that you have everything you need (food, water, blankets, flashlights, battery powered radio) in case the electricity goes out.”
