The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the Motherlode from Tuesday 4 PM through Wednesday 4 AM as well as a Flood Watch from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning.
A Winter Storm Warning has also been issued for the Sierra Nevada from Tuesday 4 PM through Wednesday 4 PM.
Snow levels will begin around 5500 feet before lowering to 2500 feet.
Several inches of snow accumulation is expected at 3000 feet. Half a foot to one foot of snow is likely from 4000 through 5000 feet. One to three feet of snow is probable from 5000 through 7000 feet.
Winds of forty to sixty mph are likely over the crest of the Sierra Nevada with some gusts reaching up to eighty mph.
Winds in the Motherlode could range from twenty-five to forty mph with gusts of up to fifty-five mph. Downed trees, branches and power outages should be expected.
One to three inches of rain should be expected in the Motherlode below the snow line by Wednesday morning. This may bring rapid rises in small rivers, streams and creeks. Possible flooding in flood-prone areas could occur. Rock, dirt and/or mud slides are likely.
Most upper roadways are expected to be icy on Wednesday night.
