Sonora, CA– Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has declared a State of Emergency for Tuolumne County related to the November winter storms.
The heavy snowfall and gusty winds caused numerous power outages, closed roads and required emergency response. The freezing temperatures and icy roads also required the need of a warming center in the area.
The county is now eligible to receive state funding to reimburse costs related to the cleanup. The State of Emergency was requested by the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors December 1st.
The Governor’s proclamation reads, “Whereas under the provisions of section 8558(b) of the California Government Code, I find that conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property exist due to the storm conditions in Tuolumne County.”
Governor Schwarzenegger also declared a State of Emergency for Calaveras County on December 2nd due to the recent storms.
