The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Sierra Nevada above 7500 feet until 11pm tonight.
Half a foot to a foot of snow is expected above 7500 feet.
Additionally, a High Wind Warning has been issued for the Sierra Nevada above 9000 feet from 11am Sunday through 5am Monday.
Steady winds of twenty to sixty mph are expected during this time, with some gusts reaching as high as seventy to one hundred mph.
A Wind Advisory is in effect for the Motherlode through 5pm this afternoon.
Winds of twenty to thirty mph are forecast during this time, with some gusts reaching as high as forty mph.
Up to four to six inches of rain could fall in the Motherlode.
The weather is expected to improve beginning Monday.
As of Sunday at 5pm, Highway 108 Sonora Pass was closed at Kennedy Meadows and Highway 120 Tioga Pass was closed at Crane Flat. Highway 4 Ebbetts was still open with no chain controls.
