The National Weather Service has issued a “Significant Weather Advisory” through 5:30pm for Tuolumne and Alpine Counties.
Additionally a “Flash Flood Warning” has been issued until 8pm for Alpine County.
A strong thunderstorm near Kennedy Meadows is moving towards the west around 10 mph.
Hail up to three quarters of an inch in diameter, along with very heavy rain, is occuring along sections of Highway 108 near Kennedy Meadow.
Heavy rainfall of over an inch per hour, is occuring near the junction of Highway 395 and Highway 89 west of Coleville. One inch hail and gusty winds of up to 60 mph is also being reported.
Flooding is either occuring or is immenent in the Wolf Creek Fire area.
Hikers and campers should seek shelter in a vehicle if possible. Stay away from creeks and streams as they will rise rapidly near thunderstorms.
