The National Weather Service has issued a Small Stream Flood Advisory for the Yosemite National Park area through 7:30 this evening.
Between 2:30 and 4:30 this afternoon, up to three inches of rain has already fallen in the park. This is due to very slow moving thunderstorms located just south of Tioga Pass and Yosemite Meadows.
An additional one to two inches of rain is expected before 7pm.
Do not underestimate the power of flood waters. Only a few inches of rapidly flowing water can quickly carry away your vehicle.
The same storm is also affecting Highway 108 (Sonora Pass) just north of the park. The C.H.P. reports lots of rocks and mud on the roadway between Highway 395 and the summit.
