The National Weather Service has issued a Significant Weather Advisory for southeast Tuolumne County through 5:30pm.
Thunderstorms and heavy rain showers are being reported eighteen miles east of Yosemite Valley and eleven miles west of June Lake. The storm is moving to the north at fifteen mph.
Additionally, hail up to the size of pennies is falling with this storm.
Localized winds are gusting up to 40 mph.
Areas impacted include Tuolumne Meadows, Dana Meadows and Tioga Pass.
The storm has already caused about thirty rocks to fall onto Highway 120, at the 9000 foot mark, near the Warren Canyon trail head. Caltrans crews are sweeping the roadway.
Use caution and never drive a vehicle into areas where water covers the roadway. Drivers also need to watch for dirt, rock and mud slides affecting area roadways. Campers and hikers should avoid being near streams and creeks during this storm.
