Yosemite, CA – Yosemite National Park officials plan to ignite a prescribed burn next week near Crane Flat.
The total prescribed burn area is 200 acres and is dependent on weather. This will mark the first prescribed fire of the 2010 Fire Season. It is estimated that the burn will take two -to-three days to complete.
Smoke from the burn may be visible throughout the area.
The goal of the prescribed burn is to reduce fire fuels near the park boundary, the Rockefeller Grove of sugar pine trees, and structures located in the Crane Flat area.
