Sacramento, CA –The unemployment rate dropped last month in the Mother Lode and across California.
Tuolumne County’s rate for May was 13.5 percent, compared to 14.5 percent in April. Calaveras County recorded 14.9 percent in May as compared to 16 percent in April.
Statewide, 46,200 jobs were created during the month of May. 30,000 were federal government jobs, a majority being temporary census workers. California’s unemployment rate dropped to 12.4 percent in May, compared to 12.5 percent in April.
The statistics were released by the California Employment Development Department.
