Governor Schwarzenegger Offers Summer Tips
Governor Schwarzenegger was Tuesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”. Here are his words:
“Hello, this is Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger with another California Report.
The summer months are around the corner.
And as we all know, there is no summer quite like a summer in California.
Our warm weather is perfect for surfing, camping, barbecuing and so on.
Summer is also a terrific time for each and every one of us to recommit ourselves to health and fitness.
This is especially important because this is the time of year when our kids are out of school.
It may be natural for kids to want to stay inside all day, watch TV and play video games.
I have four kids. So I know exactly what this is like.
But as parents, it’s our responsibility to make sure they get outside and get moving.
I know my family always makes the most of the summer months.
Both my daughters just came home from college, and my sons take time from their busy schedules so that we can exercise as a family.
We swim. We play tennis. We bike. We are constantly in motion.
It is a great way to spend time together, have fun and stay fit at the same time.
California has great community pools, tennis courts at local schools and, of course, the only thing you need for bicycling is a bike and a helmet.
And if you don’t own those things you can go and rent them.
So turn the TV off.
Shut down the computer and video games, and get outside with your family.
You will find you feel better physically and mentally as well.
So remember the saying: Families that play together, stay together.
Thank you for watching and for listening.”
The KVML “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
