Sonora, CA — Fewer state vehicles are on California roadways.
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger says that 3,300 vehicles were removed from the state fleet over the past year, in addition to a halt on vehicle purchasing.
400 of those vehicles were auctioned off to bidders earlier today.
Schwarzenegger claims the state has saved $63.9 million in vehicle acquisition, maintenance, insurance and fuel expenditures. In July of last year, Schwarzenegger signed an Executive Order directing administration officials to cut vehicle fleets by 15 percent.
