Governor Schwarzenegger was Tuesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”. Here are his words:
“Hello, this is Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger with another California Report.
This week I want to ask all of you a question.
What if I told you that with one simple action, that will take only ten minutes of your time, you can help rebuild your local roads and highways, bolster your community’s police and fire protection and invest more in your child’s school?
That sounds almost too good to be true doesn’t it? Well, it’s not.
I am talking about filling out your 2010 Census form.
Now, as you probably know, the Census occurs every ten years.
Its purpose is to, quite literally, count each and every person in America.
As you can imagine, this is a massive undertaking. And it is incredibly important.
Think about this: Over the next ten years the federal government will distribute more than $4 trillion to states based on this year’s Census results.
That’s money for transportation public safety, education, infrastructure, health care and the list goes on.
California deserves our fair share.
In addition to all that money, the Census also determines our representation in Washington.
And we want to make sure California does not lose any seats or clout in Congress.
That’s why it’s absolutely vital for every single Californian to fill out their form and to be counted.
Now, if you haven’t yet received your form in the mail, it should be arriving any day.
And if you lost it, or maybe accidentally threw it away, call 1-866-872-6868 to request a replacement.
So I want to encourage each and every one of you to fill out that form and make sure your voice is heard.
Be Californian. Be Counted.
Thank you for watching and thank you for listening.”
