The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Sierra Nevada for today from 10am through midnight.
Five to eleven inches of snow is likely above 5000. Winds of 10 to 20 MPH are expected with some gusts reaching over 45 MPH. A few thunderstorms will also be possible this afternoon.
A colder system is expected to move into the Motherlode on Wednesdy. Winds with gusts to around 40 MPH are expected. A few thunderstorms will also be possible again Wednesday afternoon. Total rainfall will likely range from about half an inch to around an inch.
By the end of Wednesday, an inch or two of snow is possible above 2500 feet . Six to eighteen inches of total snowfall is likely above 4500 feet.
A third system will move into the region Friday night into Saturday.
