More rain and possible thunderstorms are forecast for the Motherlode.
Today will be a good day to dry out as another two to three inches of rain could fall over the area on Friday. Gusty winds should also be expected.
The last storm that moved through the Motherlode on Tuesday and Wednesday, left behind an inch of rain in most locations.
Sonora received 1.16 inches of rainfall.
In Calaveras County, Murphys saw a total of .87 inches. San Andreas had .65 inches. The town of Wallace experienced .81 inches.
In Stanislaus County, Knights Ferry had a total of 1.19 inches of rain.
Wind was also a factor at several commercial airports in the valley. Modesto Airport recorded a peak wind gust of 32 MPH. Stockton Airport received a gust of 39 MPH. Sacramento International Airport saw the strongest gusts reaching as high as 45 MPH.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada from late tonight through Saturday afternoon.
Snow levels will range from 4000 through 4500 feet.
One to three feet of snow is possible above 5000 feet.
Gusty winds from 55 to 65 MPH are likely over and near the crest.
