Hundreds Of New Laws Affect Californians

Sacramento, CA — Hundreds of new laws go into effect in California today.

There are now strict laws prohibiting restaurants from cooking with trans fats, and anyone wanting plastic surgery must now get a physical. There are now heavier penalties for anyone who watches a dog fight or engages in human trafficking.

The state is adding two new official days of recognition in 2010. March 30th is designated to show appreciation of Vietnam Veterans and May 22nd will recognize slain gay rights leader Harvey Milk.

Governor Schwarzenegger signed a total of 696 bills into law last year.
