Jamestown, CA — Plans for a 135 acre rock quarry near Jamestown were taken up by the Tuolumne County Planning Commission last night.
The Cooperstown Quarry would be located in southwest Tuolumne County near the Tuolumne and Stanislaus County line. The land is owned by Jack and Tricia Gardella and is currently being used for cattle grazing.
Tuolumne County Community Development Department Senior Planner Adam Paszkowski says the Commission postponed a vote until the February 16th meeting. The Commission wanted more information regarding potential noise issues, the hours of operation, and maintenance of Cooperstown Road. The Commission is also hoping to see additional oak mitigation for old growth oaks.
The Planning Commission will simply make a recommendation regarding the project, as the Board of Supervisors will have the final say on whether it’s approved. That vote is expected in the coming months.
