Brown Calls Fiscal Emergency
Governor Jerry Brown has issued a fiscal State of Emergency.
It reaffirms the State of Emergency called by former Governor Schwarzenegger on December 6. The states deficit for the next two years is $25.6 billion, unless corrective action is taken. Brown is calling for the legislature to come together in the coming weeks to solve the budget crisis.
Brown is calling $12.5 billion in cuts, and hopes the remainder will be made up by voters extending temporary tax hikes.
