Pair Appointed To Health Reform Board

The Governor has appointed two members of his administration to a Board that will help oversee California’s implementation of the new federal healthcare reforms.

Governor Schwarzenegger announces that he has appointed Kimberly Belshe, his Cabinet Secretary for Health and Human Services, and Susan Kennedy, his Chief of Staff, to a five member California Health Benefit Exchange.

A third slot will be filled by Diana Dooley, Governor Elect Jerry Brown’s choice for Secretary of Health and Human Services, and the final two will be selected by the legislature. The group is responsible for creating an internet based marketplace so that consumers can shop for health insurance.

The appointments do not require legislative approval, and the Board members do not receive a salary.
