Sonora, CA — A recent myMotherLode.com informal poll about personal debt had mostly positive results. The poll asked, “Can you handle the amount of debt you have?” 57 percent said yes and nearly 19 percent said they don’t have debt.
Twenty-three percent answered “No” they can’t handle the amount of debt they have. A late June and early July field poll also concluded “California voters continue to be in a generally depressed mood with regard to both the state’s economy and their own.”
The field poll found that a 58 percent majority sees no change in their own financial situation over the coming year. This compares to 30 percent who believe their personal finances will get better and 12 percent who think they will get worse.
In other recent news, the California Employment Development Department reports that Tuolumne County’s unemployment rate is 11.7 percent, and Calaveras County is at 13.1 percent. The news story by B.J. Hansen “Unemployment Rates Steady” is posted here.
The field poll also noted, with the presidential election less than four months away, three times as many Obama supporters (39%) as those backing Romney (13%) expect to be better off in the next twelve months.
