This Saturday’s event calendar has 20 events listed, Tuolumne county’s Relay for Life tops the list as the Mother Lode counts down the days till the busy week of Rope, Ride and Ribbet.
Relay for Life is a 24-hour team event to fight cancer and is the signature fund raising activity of the American Cancer Society. Tuolumne County’s Relay For Life is made up of teams of 10-15 participants who take turns running or walking around the Sonora High School track at Dunlavy Field to raise money for research, cancer education, patient service programs and advocacy.
Opening ceremony is at 9am on Saturday. That evening there will be a “Remembering those lost” ceremony. The closing ceremony will be held Sunday at 8:30am.
The 53rd Annual Columbia Fireman’s Muster is made up of several days of events, Friday is Hospitality Night at 6pm at the Columbia Fire House with food, live band, and silent auction. Saturday a parade starts in Columbia at 9am followed by bucket brigade, hand pumpers and horse cart race. Sunday in the lower parking lot the motorized hose wagon competition starts at 9am followed by motorized pumpers competition and firefighter shootout.
Related to the Roundup, the Round-Up Queen Horsemanship is at 10 am Saturday and the Queen Pageant is on Sunday, May 6th at the Sonora Elks Lodge. On May 9th is the Band Review at Sonora High School and on May 10th is the Calcutta at the Posse Grounds in Jamestown. The Mother Lode Roundup is set for Mothers Day weekend, May 12-13.
The Gran Gala for the Amgen of Sonora is on Sunday as well, for more information read “Sonora Amgen Gran Gala.”
