A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Sierra Nevada from Thursday 10 A.M. through Friday at noon.
The National Weather Service has also issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Sierra Nevada from Friday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.
Through Thursday evening, four to eight inches of snow accumulation is expected above 6000 through 8000 feet.
Friday morning through Saturday morning, one to two feet of snow is expected above 5000 feet.
On Sunday, additional snow accumulation is expected above 5000 feet .
Winds of ten to twenty mph are expected in the Sierra with gusts ranging from fifty to eighty mph over the highest ridges.
In the Mother Lode, less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected by Wednesday night.
However, significant precipitation is expected Thursday, Friday and Sunday with moderate to heavy rain on Friday and possibly on Sunday.
Winds of fifteen to thirty mph are expected during times of precipitation, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph. The strongest winds are anticipated for Thursday afternoon, late Friday and on Sunday.
