San Andreas, CA — If you are not done burning debris you only have until Friday to finish up. CAL Fire will suspend all burn permits in Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties starting Friday, June 14th.
Cal Fire Spokesperson Nancy Longmore says, “It is a little earlier than usual, but with the dry winters that we’ve had, two of them back to back and one almost a record setter, the fuel moisture in the live and even dead vegetation is extremely low. We’re entering a time here in early June that’s typically not seen until late July or early August in terms of fire danger.”
Longmore says burning will not be permitted again until Autumn. She says this year the fire danger is very high. She says residents can help out by maintaining their defensible space throughout the summer and being extremely caution handling any equipment that could cause a fire.
