A Significant Weather Advisory has been issued for Tuolumne County and Northeastern Mariposa County until 4:15 PM.
At 3:33 PM, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from eleven miles south of Sonora Pass to near Tuolumne
High Sierra Camp. Movement was west at ten mph.
According to the National Weather Service, heavy downpours, nickel size hail and winds in excess of thirty mph will be possible with these storms.
Locations impacted include Hetch Hetchy Ranger Station, Sunrise High Sierra Camp, Porcupine Flat Campground, White Wolf Campground, May Lake High Sierra Camp, Rancheria Falls Wilderness Campground, Vogelsang High Sierra Camp, Tuolumne High Sierra Camp, Glen Aulin High Sierra Camp, Tuolumne Meadows Visitor Center, Yosemite Creek Campground, Tuolumne Meadows Campground, Tuolumne Meadows, Lower Kibbie Ridge, Snow Flat, Hetch Hetchy, Paradise Meadow and Tenaya Lake.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike ten miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until these storms pass.
Additionally, the Heat Advisory issued for the Mother Lode, the Sierra Nevada and the Northern San Joaquin Valley expires tonight at 8 PM.
