End Of March Events

Several events are planned this weekend and the last week of March. Also, as mentioned here there is a CHP Teenage Driver’s Education class tonight.

Rain or shine the Calaveras Gem & Mineral Society Gem & Jewelry Show will be held at the Calaveras Fair Grounds both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Admission and parking details are in the event listing here. The Mark Twain Hall building will feature vendors of top quality gems, minerals, jewelry, beads, fossils, Petrified wood, equipment, books, and more. Demonstrators will show how lapidary and jewelry items are made with case displays featuring fine mineral, Lapidary and jewelry by members and guest exhibitors. There will be a kids area with fun and interesting activities for children plus a silent auction and food on site.

In Twain Harte the Mustache March fundraiser event is to raise money for individuals in need of financial assistance, this year the funds will go to Mellissa Diaz. More details, music and auction items information are in the event listing here.

The 20th Annual Trivia Bee at the San Andreas Town Hall, on Saturday, will be American Bandstand Era (50s-80s) themed. The annual event is the fundraiser for the Friends of the Library for Calaveras County, which works to support our eight library branches. Social Hour starts at 5:30 pm, Dinner at 6:30 pm and the Trivia Bee starts at 7:30 pm. Ticket details are in the event listing here.

The last week of March is Spring break for the elementary and high schools in the area, Easter Sunday is not until April 16th this year. Events to enjoy over the week include Monday or Wednesday the Walking with the Wildflowers at the West Side Railroad Trail, Tuesday the Groveland Rotary Club is hosting their Annual Wellness Faire at Tenaya Elementary. On Thursday Angels Camp Museum will offer a guided tour called ‘Medicine in the Gold Rush. Next Saturday Railtown 1897 will have its opening weekend details are here. After the big opening celebration Railtown 1897 will be open every weekend through October.
