Update: The Next Storm Will Impact The Region This Weekend

A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect for both the Mother Lode and the Northern San Joaquin Valley until 10 AM this morning (Friday).

Visibility is one quarter mile or less in the dense fog, creating hazardous driving conditions. If driving in fog, slow down, use your low beam headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

Additionally, a Winter Storm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for Yosemite National Park (outside of the Yosemite Valley) above 7,000 feet, from this evening (Friday) until late Sunday night. A Winter Storm Watch has also been issued for the western slope of the northern Sierra Nevada from late tonight until late Sunday night.

Heavy snow is expected.

The snow levels will initially start between 5,000 to 6,500 feet on Saturday, before dropping to 4,000 to 4,500 feet by late Sunday afternoon.

The total snow accumulations will range from one to four feet above the 7,000 foot elevation.

Winds may gust as high as forty-five to sixty mph along the crest and through canyons. Strong winds could cause tree damage.

Travel could be very difficult to impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Slow down and use caution while traveling.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant snow, sleet, or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
